Service Delivery Architecture
The computationally intensive simulation runs are performed on a scalable server farm that is securely maintained in ROSS Scientific, thereby relieving the customer from needing expensive or platform compatible computers. Upon completion of the simulation runs, data is transferred back to the client's PC for visualization and re-animation of the movement patterns or of the dynamics of the disease spread. The thin-client provides all the functionality for experimental design and parameter configuration but it is the servers at ROSS Scientific that undertake the actual simulation task. For full embeddability, the PathoSIM Developer product can have all the functionality running on the client-side.
For PathoSIM Scorecard, scoring information will be published on the ROSS website, and this is made publicly accessible. For PathoSIM ExpertKnowledge users, the PathSIM Model will be automatically formatted into a report and transferred to them after an e-commerce transaction and on verification that they are current licensees for PathoSIM Scorecard. Overall, the client/server architecture is advantageous and cost-effective for the following reasons:
- Platform Independence and increased user-base.
- Deployment of software maintenance updates is simplified.
- Knowledge capital is protected and accumulative.
- Computationally efficient and scalable.
