What We Offer

What We OfferThe flagship family of products that ROSS Scientific provides is called PathoSIM. There are two distinct user types of PathoSIM, which we term simulation-users (SU) and simulation-developers (SD).

As its name implies, SUs will receive evaluation and consultation services based on a customized simulation software called PathoSIM Professional. For SDs, ROSS Scientific will provide an embeddable, customized simulation engine designed specifically for a particular customer's environment called PathoSIM Developer. As SDs, you can then develop applications that utilize information derived through execution of the simulation engine, such as to find the optimal mix of interventions needed to minimize epidemic duration or outbreak size. The sales processes for both products are similar.

A Complete Solution for Infection Control

ROSS Scientific provides a complete solution for your infection control needs, which comprises of 4 deliverables:

  1. Our engineers will undertake to profile your environment to understand the contact patterns and social structures that arises during normal business operations, and how these may affect disease transmission characteristics. We will also include information on individual health susceptibilities in our study. This step will culminate in a report that provides you with a basis for modeling disease spread.
  2. With the data from (1), we will create a simulation of your environment that can be used to predict disease dynamics under scenarios defined by you. Such a model can then be used for the following:
    • To predict the impact of how current healthcare infection control measures, work-patterns, visitation rates and infection control procedures have on outbreak dynamics such as duration, size and infection rates.
    • To determine the optimal and cost-effective set of intervention controls that would minimize the expected epidemic duration while limiting costs.
    • To determine appropriate sample sizes and frequencies for costeffective surveillance, thereby predicting the time to detection for an outbreak and allow for resource allocation and capacity planning.
    • To determine who are the possible super-spreaders and answer questions about how the pathogen will spread among individuals in your environment. This can then lead to better policies for resource allocation and structuring of work patterns. For example, the appropriate numbers of beds in a ward, the way nurses are best
allocated to patients, or the presence of specific locations that facilitate disease spread.
    • As a tool for performing what-if scenario analysis, where experiments can be constructed to understand the outcomes with changing input
parameters. For example, changes in the number of contacts for contact tracing purposes, or to determine the effect on disease dynamics for different index case types.
  3. Based on the simulation results of (2), we will provide you with a report that assesses the effectiveness of the current infection controls at your domain with respect to possible outbreak scenarios. The report will also make concrete recommendations for interventions and/or containment. With this report, you will have a clear assessment of the dynamics of disease outbreak on your organization, and recommendations for minimizing its impact.
  4. We will provide training (based on WHO guidelines and of interpreting the results from our simulation) and regular assessments with your infection control staff. This would involve summaries of usage of the simulation tool and its results. Reports will be automatically generated and sent to the management of your organization. In this way, we provide the administration that helps your organization to enforce a consistent and measurable infection control programme.
