ROSS Scientific is led by a team of seasoned professionals and supported by a panel of experts in computational science, biostatistics, infection control and public health.

We specialize in product-based consultation for simulation and modeling of disease spread within a heterogeneous, susceptible human population. Through advanced mathematical and individual-based behavioral models and data analysis techniques, we are able to realistically simulate the spread of a pathogen through airborne, droplet, aerosol, vector or fomite-based transmission routes within a topologically complex environment having heterogeneous host characteristics.

Founder biography:

Dr. Tay Joc Cing is the CEO, Chief Scientist and majority shareholder of ROSS Scientific. He is an expert in infectious disease modeling and was an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the Nanyang Technological University for the past 7 years prior to founding ROSS Scientific. He has received several awards and prizes for teaching and research, including a Tan Chin Tuan Fellowship in Engineering at the Centre for Mathematics and Physics for Life Sciences and Experimental Biology at University College London. He has published papers in leading conferences and journals and won several awards/prizes for work in the areas of evolutionary computation and agent-based models of biological systems. He was the Director for the Evolutionary and Complex Systems Programme (EvoCom) at NTU and an associate partner of Virolab, a European Consortium for modeling drug treatments for HIV infection. Dr. Tay is a member of the ACM, a Senior Member of IEEE and currently an editorial board member of the journal Future Generation Computer Systems (FGCS), Elsevier Science. Prior to joining academia, he was a Senior Consultant for ILOG Pte Ltd in the areas of optimization and business rules. In this role, he was given an Outstanding Field Applications Engineer award for his contributions to the company. In total, Joc Cing has more than 15 years of commercial and academic experience in software development and design.
